The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is set to begin from March 22. Cricket fans have been eagerly waiting for it. However, there has been a slight change in the schedule. The match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants, which was scheduled to be played on April 6 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, will now be played in Guwahati. This decision was made due to the observance of Ram Navami in Kolkata.
The Kolkata Police informed that they would not be able to provide full security on that day. Last year, incidents of violence were reported during Ram Navami in Kolkata and several other parts of West Bengal. This year, the police anticipate that over 20,000 processions will take place in Kolkata alone. Keeping this in view, the police have become alert. Since adequate security could not be ensured for the match, it has been relocated to Guwahati.
With the match moving to Guwahati, the Cricket Association of Bengal is expected to face a significant financial loss.
