The IPL has completed 18 years. After a long wait of 18 years, RCB has finally won its first IPL trophy. In the final, RCB batted first and set a target of 191 runs against Punjab Kings. Punjab Kings failed to chase down the target, resulting in Bengaluru lifting its first IPL trophy after 18 years. In the 20th over, Punjab Kings’ batter Shashank Singh couldn’t score any runs off the first two deliveries bowled by Josh Hazlewood. Punjab needed 29 runs in the final over to win the match, but they couldn’t achieve it. As it became clear in the last over that Bengaluru was going to win their first IPL trophy, Virat Kohli was overcome with emotion. His teary eyes moved many cricket fans as well.Virat is the only player who has remained with a single team continuously for 18 years since the very beginning. Although RCB came close to the trophy many times, they had never been able to win it—until now. Despite being India’s most popular cricketer and winning several ICC trophies like the World Cup and Champions Trophy, Virat had always regretted not winning the IPL—something that was clearly visible yesterday.
