Indian team all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has created a historic record. He has set a new benchmark in cricket history that no one ever imagined. Jadeja has become the only cricketer in the world to consistently hold the No. 1 position in the ICC Test all-rounder rankings for an extended period.
For 1,151 consecutive days, no one has been able to displace Jadeja from the top spot in the Test all-rounder rankings. This rare achievement has never been attained by any other cricketer in the world. The star spinner and dependable lower-order batsman of the Indian team has once again retained the No. 1 spot in the ICC Test all-rounder rankings released this week.
Holding the No. 1 position for 1,151 days reflects Jadeja’s dominance and consistency in Test cricket. Whether it’s scoring a crucial half-century on pitches unsuitable for batting or taking five wickets on turning tracks, the 36-year-old Jadeja has proven his caliber. For this reason, he remains the backbone of India’s Test team.
In 2024, Jadeja secured his place in the ICC Test team with performances that impressed everyone. Last year, he scored 527 runs at an average of 29.27 and took 48 wickets at an average of 24.29. Jadeja has now surpassed legendary all-rounders like Jacques Kallis, Kapil Dev, and Imran Khan in terms of longevity at the top of the ICC Test rankings.
Before Jadeja, West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder had held the No. 1 position in the ICC Test all-rounder rankings. However, in March 2022, Jadeja overtook him and has retained the top spot ever since — for 1,151 days straight. He currently has 400 points. Behind him is Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who is gradually closing in with 327 points.
Miraz recently climbed to the second position in the all-rounder rankings after scoring 116 runs and taking 15 wickets in a Test series against Zimbabwe — his career-best ranking points. However, he is still 27 points behind Jadeja.
