Demand for League Cricketers is Rising

After the beginning of the IPL, leagues started to be organized one after another across the country. Initially, leagues like the Karnataka Premier League, Tamil Nadu Premier League, and Odisha Premier League were held, following the IPL model. But now, their number has increased significantly. With several Indian star players participating in these leagues, the craze for the game is rising.

Recently, Indian team stars Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer were seen in the Mumbai T20 League. Every match saw packed stadiums with fans eager to watch them. These leagues are not just entertaining for the audience but are also providing a crucial platform for young talents. We saw glimpses of this in the current year’s IPL. Players like Priyansh Arya, Aniket Verma, Digvijay Singh Rathore, and Vighnesh Puthur earned IPL contracts after impressive performances in such domestic leagues.

Many of them did not even have much experience in domestic (first-class) cricket, yet their talent got them IPL opportunities. Not just these few, many players who currently play for various franchises are also products of these leagues. These leagues are helping in creating talent for the IPL. Moreover, they are becoming a source of financial support and motivation for several young cricketers aiming to perform well.
