The 39th National Junior Athletics Championship concluded today at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. Team Haryana emerged as the overall champion with 303 points, while Tamil Nadu secured the runners-up position with 269 points.
Odisha made a remarkable performance in the tournament, winning 6 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze medals, tallying a total of 11 medals. Both the men’s and women’s teams of Haryana achieved dominance, scoring 116 and 179 points, respectively, to claim the championship titles in their categories. A total of 20 national records were created during the event.
At the closing ceremony, dignitaries such as Mr. Adille Sumariwalla, President of Athletics Federation of India; Mr. Siddhartha Das, Director of Sports and Youth Services Department; Mr. Deepankar Mahapatra, CEO of Odisha Hockey Promotion Council; Mr. Bijay Kumar Swain, Additional Secretary; and Mr. Bijayananda Nayak, Joint Secretary, along with other senior officials, graced the occasion.
