Will Some Players Be Dropped? Will Jasprit Bumrah Play?
The Champions Trophy is set to begin on February 19. While Pakistan is hosting this ICC event, India will play all its matches in Dubai. With the announcement of the Indian squad, the team has also begun preparations by playing an ODI series against England.
The inclusion of multiple spin-bowling all-rounders and the exclusion of Mohammed Siraj surprised many. With only a few days left before potential squad changes, speculations are rising that India may make some modifications.
During the final Test match against Australia, Jasprit Bumrah suffered an injury while bowling. The BCCI has yet to provide a clear update on his fitness. There are discussions that he might recover before the tournament or at least by the playoff stage.
Additionally, since India already has multiple spin-bowling all-rounders, Varun Chakravarthy could replace either Washington Sundar or Kuldeep Yadav. Considering the pitch and conditions in Dubai, India’s squad currently has one less fast bowler. Some senior cricketers are demanding the inclusion of an additional fast bowler in the squad.
With both the captain and vice-captain being openers, Yashasvi Jaiswal might have a lower chance of making the playing XI. Whether he remains in the squad or gets replaced will be revealed in time.
